Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an apparatus capable of supplying a large amount of hot water in a short while even if available sunlight is fairly weak, by concentrating the sunlight onto the surface of a spherical water tank by use of a cylindrical prism and a convex lens and thereby raising the pressure and temperature of water in the tank.
CONSTITUTION: The spherical water tank 5 placed on a base 1 is surrounded by the cylindrical prism 6 fitted in double annular ring 4, and the top of the cylindrical prism 6 is covered with the convex lens 11. The water tank 5 is opened at its bottom to communicated with a valve port 2' of water supply pipe 2. A valve body 15 at the top of the tank 5 is connected with a hot-water conduit 13 which is in turn connected to a reservoir tank (not shown). Further, in the valve body 15, there is provided a fixed weight type pressure valve 8 which is connected with hot- water outlet pipe 12. The valve 8 is interconnected via a rod 16 to a stop valve 14 fitted in a valve port 2'. Before the tank 5 is heated by the sunlight, the valve 8 is held at its closed position shown in the drawing. However, as the temperature of the water 9 and air 10 in tank is raised with heating of the tank 5 and pressure in the tank 5 is raised to a predetermined level, the valve 8 is forced to open and hot water is delivered from the conduit 13.
