Abstract

A garment having an adjustable neck region includes a fastening device attached to one part of the neck region for selective fastening engagement with another overlapping part of the neck region, the device comprising two portions which in the fastening position are located on opposite sides of one part of the neck region. According to Figs. 1 -4 (not shown) for closing the neck band of a cape, the device (3) consists of a bar buckle of metal or plastics material, the buckle having one or two open-ended slots for receiving a free portion of a neck band (2). According to Fig. 5, the device comprises a slotted member which is rivetted to the band the other part of the band being held by the resilience of a central bar. In another form Fig. 6 the device comprises a U-shaped member 15 which straddles one part of the band, the other part of the band being secured to an outer leg of the U, through which a stud bar 16 passes to grip the first part of the band against the outer leg of the U. In a further form, Fig. 9a, the device comprises a U-section member 23 secured to one part of the band and having a free limb 25 which is engageable with slots formed by a toothed member secured to the other part of the band Fig. 9b (not shown).
