Abstract

1,083,028. Washing machines. AMETEK Inc. Nov. 9, 1964 [Nov. 29, 1963], No. 45577/ 64. Heading DIA. In a washer-dryer, the perforated drum (12) Fig. 1 (not shown), is carried in a housing 11 on a horizontal shaft 13 extending through the housing to bearings (14), 15 mounted on a platform 16 to which are pivoted supports 23, 30 biassed in opposite directions and carrying motors 21, 31, belt means 22, 33 being provided to connect one motor 21 to a pulley 18 on shaft 13 and the other motor 31 to a pulley 34 on the shaft 20 of motor 21. Supports 23, 30 are biassed by springs 26, 35, spring 35 being the weaker. Thus motor 31 drives shaft 13 at a lower speed than motor 21.
