Abstract
1,082,818. Container closures. GUILD MOLDERS, Inc. Nov. 5, 1964, No. 45125/64. Heading B8T. A closure and sealing assembly, Fig. 5, for an externally threaded container neck 316 comprises an internally threaded rigid cap 320 and a flexible insert 322 that is force fitted into the cap and includes a part that projects into and seals the container neck. An annular mounting wall 344 in the insert is forced past an annular flange 370 in the cap and fits in a cavity 342 while an annular wall 340 in the cap abuts a seat 366 in the insert. The depending hollow frusto-conical sealing part 348 of the insert that accommodates irregularities in the neck surrounds an annular wall 350 that defines a socket for an applicator 360, e.g. a brush. A plume 338 screws into the cap top. In a further form (Fig. 1) the applicator is integral with the sealing part of the insert. In a still further form (Fig. 4) the applicator fits into a socket formed by an annular wall depending from the cap top. The closure and sealing assembly of Fig. 10 comprises a cap 424 fitted with an internally threaded insert 432 whose hollow frusto-conioal sealing part 940 is closed at its bottom by a horizontal wall. An air vent 438 is provided along the length of the insert.
