Abstract
1,082,714. Gas heaters; recirculation of combustion gases. REAVES INDUSTRIAL FURNACES Ltd. Sept. 30, 1965 [Oct. 1,1964] No. 39995/64. Headings F4B and F4S. A gas (unspecified) flowing through a tube assembly comprising a helical tube 2 and straight tubes 4, is heated by an oil- or gasfired burner 16, the tube assembly being mounted on a base A surmounted by a casing B which is detachable for access to the tubes. The tubes 4 are suspended from the upper part of the casing by three tensioning devices 32. The gas to be heated passes from inlet 1, through the helical tube 2 and then through the tubes 4 to an outlet 5 for heated gas. The combustion products from the burner pass upwardly around the tubes 4, over the upper edge of a baffle 29 and downwardly over the tube 2 to a flue 19, the draught being assisted by a fan 18. A temperature sensing device 36 controls the temperature of the burner gases and prevents overheating. A valve 20 located adjacent a cold-air inlet 21 enables part of the combustion gases to be recirculated via the fan 18 and ducts 24, 25. Combustion air from a blower 6, and gaseous or liquid fuel, is supplied to the burner via a control valve system 7-11, mixing chamber 12 and fuel supply lines 13, 14. The casing B has attachments 31 for lifting purposes and a removable access cover 33. The tensioning devices are disconnected before removing the casing B. The top 30 of the casing may be separately detachable.
