In a method of mounting cutters in a shear the upper and lower cutters 5, 6 are each bolted to a cutter mount 3, 4 respectively, and the cutter mounts have T-slots which receive the heads 10a of clamping bolts 10. The clamping arrangements are similar for each cutter, that for the lower cutter is shown in section in Fig. 1. At the end of each clamping bolt, remote from the head, is a piston 12 which runs in a fluid cylinder 11. A compression spring 13 acts between the piston and the end 11a of the cylinder and provides the clamping pressure for the cutter. To enable the cutter to be removed, pressure fluid is admitted to the cylinder 11 to move the piston 12 against the pressure of the spring 13 and thus move the head 10a of the bolt to the position shown in dotted lines. The cutter and cutter mount are then raised by push rods 16 operating in cylinders 18 to which pressure fluid is supplied. A plate 20 running on the roller table of the shear is moved under the cutter and cutter mount which can then be withdrawn from the press. The upper cutter is unclamped in a similar way and the cutter and cutter mount are lowered on to the plate 20 by the rods 17 which have heads which engage T-slots in the cutter mount 3.
