Abstract
890,242. Shearing. MOELLER & NEUMANN G.m.b.H. July 7, 1960 [July 11, 1959], No. 23767/60. Class 83 (4). An hydraulic shears comprises cylinder units 2, 3 for operating the top and bottom bladesupports 4, 13, the supports having arms 5, 6, 12 engaged by the units 2, 3 which are housed in the shear-frame 1 and may be withdrawn laterally of their axes, through openings in the frame. Slots 15 in the frame receive ribs 14 on the units 2, 3 which are held in position by keepers 16. The cylinder unit 2 at each end of at least the upper blade-support 4 has separate cylinders for pistons 7, 8. Pistons 7 may lower the support to the work 17 which can be sheared by upward movement of the lower bladesupport 13, pistons 8 acting to raise the support. Alternatively, the top-blade 10 may be moved during shearing. The lower units 3 may have single, stepped pistons 11, providing alternative speeds at which the support 13 may be raised.
