Abstract

1,193,376. Beds, frames and slides. INNOCENTI SOC. GENERALE PER L'lNDUSTRIA METALLURGICA E MECCANICA. 21 Feb., 1968 [20 Oct., 1967], No. 8476/68. Heading B3B. The vertical web 3 of a machine tool slide support structure is directly supported by a levelling jack 4 set in foundations 5 and is pre-loaded by tensioning tie-rods 10 set in the foundations 5 and acting on the ends of arms extending either side of the web 3. The arms may be welded to the web 3, or may be in the form of a yoke member 14 extending through an aperture 15 in the web 3, the yoke member bearing on a convex block 16. The tie-rods are tensioned equally and retaining members 18 are provided to limit the rocking of the yoke member. The slide is provided by parallel guideways 2, and holes 13 are provided in a top plate of the structure to enable the tie-rods 10 to be tightened.
