Abstract

A composition for bonding rubber to metal comprises (A) 10 to 90 parts by weight of a copolymer of a conjugated diene and an ester of acrylic or methacrylic acid, (B) 10 to 90 parts by weight of a chlorinated elastomer, (C) 1 to 30 parts by weight of a dioxime, (D) 1 to 30 parts by weight of an oxidizing agent for the dioxime, and (E) solvent in an amount of 3 to 20 parts by weight per part by weight of the mixture of solids. As chlorinated elastomer, chlorinated rubber is preferred, but the base material may also be polyisoprene or polybutadiene. Oxidizing agents specified are lead dioxide, benzoyl peroxide, tetramethyl thiuram disulphide, mercaptobenzthiazole, and the double salt of zinc-N-ethyl-N-phenyldithiocarbamate and cyclohexylethylamine.
