A composition comprising natural rubber. cis-1: 4-polybutadiene and mercaptobenzimidazole as metal inhibitor and ageing resistor is vulcanised in the presence of a nitrogen-containing substance and a compound that yields sulphur and/or less than 1.5 parts of sulphur per 100 parts of rubber to which system mercaptobenzthiazole, benzthiazyl disulphide or tetramethyl thiuram disulphide are added as accelerators. The nitrogen-containing substance is preferably p: p<SP>1</SP>-dibenzoyl-quinone dioxime and the sulphur-yielding substance is preferably 4: 4<SP>1</SP>-dithiodimorpholine.
