Abstract
1,079,250. Marine structures for subaqueous operations. WERF GUSTO V/n FIRMA A.F. SMULDERS N.V. Nov. 25, 1964 [Dec. 3, 1963], No. 47971/64. Heading E1H. A structure for use in subaqueous operations comprises a buoyant part which includes vertical caissons 2, 5 and 3 and 4 (not shown) and supports the equipment required for the operations and a part 1 which is submerged and supports on its underside a number of movable columns 11, 13 and 10 and 12 (not shown) which are equipped with means 14, 15 for moving the structure horizontally over the sea bed. As shown, in Fig. 9 the columns comprise a vertically movable cylindrical member 35 arranged within compartment 34. The underside of member 35 has a projection 36 for deeper projection into the sea bed. Member 35 is coupled to the main body part 33 via hydraulic cylinders 37. Cylindrical member 38 as shown is similar to member 35 but is also capable by means of hydraulic cylinders 41 of horizontal movement relative to part 33. In a modification, Figs. 11 to 14 (not shown), the cylindrical members have attached to their undersides endless tracks passing around wheels. Figs. 4 to 7 (not shown) disclose a structure with a working platform comprising pontoons connected together by a bridge piece said platform may be lifted clear of the surface of the water.
