Abstract

1,077,627. Wells. CAMERON IRON WORKS Inc. April 13, 1965, No. 15820/65. Heading E1F. A tool 35 for running a seal 28 into an annulus between well-head members 25, 11 and then testing the seal comprises a body adapted to be carried by a tubular member 37 and having a central passage 36 and side ports 49. The seal is releasably carried by the tool on spring-pressed balls 39, and is screwed onto the member 25 by means of pins 47 on the tool. The seal has a gland nut 31 adapted to engage a casing hanger 23a. a seal ring 31a. an expander 32 and slips 33 all of which are carried by a sleave 29. A cup washer 44 is carried by the tool so that when the seal is screwed into position, the passage 36 is closed by a plug 49b, a blowout preventer 17 is closed on the member 37, and pressure is applied through the member 37, the seal is placed under testing pressure. The ports 49 may be plugged and the seal testing pressure may be applied through a kill line 49c. The preventer is surmounted by a conductor 21 which may be for an underwater well.
