[Also in Division F2] In a wheel for a rail vehicle comprising a central wheel disc 2 and an outer wheel ring 3, 4, separate brake rings 5 are attached to the wheel ring to provide braking surfaces for the brake friction pads of a disc brake 6 and the brake rings 5 are attached to the wheel by means of retaining screws 7, the brake rings 5 engaging the wheel ring formed by a tyre 4 and a rim 3 in both axial and radial directions, cooling air ducts 8, 9 being arranged to connect the opposite sides of the rings such that these ducts extend along the engaging surfaces of the wheel and the brake rings and end at the outer periphery of the brake rings. The rings 5 may be formed with or without a stiffening flange 11 and the brake rings may either be of annular construction or may consist of a number of ring sectors.
