Abstract
1,076,154. Forging turbine blades. PRECISION FORGINGS Ltd. May 7, 1964 [May 14, 1963], No. 18969/63. Headings B3A and B3H. A turbine blade is forged between main dies 15, 16 and also by a transversely acting auxiliary die 27, 28 which forms the blade root with a recess 12, Fig. 1 (not shown), and a projection 13. The auxiliary die may be in two or more relatively movable parts operated by a ram 26. Projections 31, Fig. 4 (not shown), limit the movement of the auxiliary die. In another embodiment, Fig. 2, the auxiliary die is in one part and has an axial recess for forming the axial projection 13, Fig. 1 (not shown), on the root of the blade.
