Abstract
1,050,440. Forging crank-shafts. RHEINSTAHL HUTTENWERKE A.G. May 31, 1963 [June 2, 1962], No. 21894/63. Headings B3A and B3H. A crank throw is forged in a die 14 by a punch 15 to form diverging webs 19, Fig. 6, which are straightened, Fig. 7 (not shown), after removal from the die. The initial workpiece 1, Figs. 1, 2 (not shown), is forged from an ingot to provide a continuous grain flow. After straightening, the webs are flame cut along the lines 20, Fig. 8 (not shown). The throw is mounted on a shaft journal.
