Abstract

1,073,930. Making fillings and sealing bags. K. OTT [trading as HABRA-WERK WILHELM F. OTT]. Nov. 27, 1964 [Nov. 29, 1963], No. 48219/64. Heading B5D. [Also in Division B8] Tubing formed from a web 102 (Fig. 2) of paper with a heat-sealable coating or a plastics material is sealed and severed transversely at 17, 18 and 19, 20 and the bag blanks so formed are opened over rotatable spreading plates (24, Fig. 1, not shown) by suction devices 22 so that the bag may be filled and sealed (see Division B8). In the form shown the bag is carried in parallelepipedic shape on the spreading plate past a heated ram 26 (Fig. 2) so that the bottom corners of the bag are heated before a ram (29, Fig. 1, not shown) presses the corner flaps against, and if required seals them to, the base of the bag. The side seams are flattened by pressure plates 27 (Fig. 2). The position of printing on the web 102 is controlled by a photoelectric cell 15.
