A transport container comprises an inner aluminium vessel (1), for receiving the radioactive material and surrounded by a casing (3) formed by a cast matrix of epoxy resin having borax distributed therein. The hydrogen contained in the borax and resin matrix serves to moderate neutrons which are captured by the boron in the borax.
