Abstract

1,222,196. Shielding containers for radioactive material. KERNFORSCHUNGSANLAGE JULICH G.m.b.H. 18 April, 1969 [20 April, 1968], No. 19981/69. Heading B4Q. A transport container comprises an outer fire-resistant casing 2 having a lid 1 and receiving a flask 4 of radiation shielding material defining an internal space 12 closed by a lid 3. The flask 4 comprises upper and lower parts 11, 10 and intermediate parts 14 having stepped surfaces, the joints being made gastight by sealing rings 13. Thus by omitting the parts 14 or by using a different number of them the size of the space 12 may be varied according to the different number or size of the inserts 16 it is required to receive.
