A rack assembly for housing electric circuit boards comprises a plurality of removable frames, each frame carrying a plurality of connection strips for removably receiving the boards, said strips being disposed parallel to one another in one plane. As shown, Fig. 2, a rack comprises four uprights 12 linked by pairs of runners 13 into which are inserted the siderails 14 of frames 2 which are secured in the rack by screws 15. Spring connection strips 3 are secured between the front and rear members of each frame, the strips having downwardfacing contact springs which electrically contact and hold suspended circuit boards (not shown); the boards are located by guide members 18, 19 mounted on a lower frame. Further connection strips 6, 7 receive inter-rack and inter-frame cable terminals respectively. Jumper wires and inter-strip cables (which may be guided in pockets &c.) are connected between terminals 20 on strips 3, 6, 7. The fronts 16 of the frames 2 may be provided with switching, monitoring, and safety devices. In other embodiments, the frames carrying the connection strips are mounted vertically, at the rear of the rack, being slidably inserted from the side (Fig. 4, not shown) or from the front (Fig. 5, not shown). Figs. 6, 7 (not shown) depict the formation of a cable form on the face of a vertical frame remote from the circuit boards. The racks may be enclosed to form cabinets.
