A rack for holding a plurality of drawer-type chassis for electrical equipment and/or circuit boards comprises a pair of end plates 10 joined by upper and lower tie rods 11 which carry pairs of opposed guide members 17 having grooves in their inner faces in which the chassis or circuit boards slide; spacer sleeves 16 on the tie rods maintain guide members 17 in a predetermined spaced relationship. Drawers may be of varying widths; the drawer shown comprises a front panel 25 with a handle 26, and a rear panel 29, the panels being joined by upper and lower pairs of parallel guide rails 27, the outer rail of each pair having a rib which slides in a groove in a guide member 17. A plate 39 for carrying electrical equipment is fixed to the guide rails 27 by saddle washers 34 and bolts 35. A male connector 40 mounted on rear panel 29 co-operates with a female connector 22 mounted on a rear plate 21 of the rack, the rear plate 21 being secured to pairs of rails 18 which extend between end plates 10; alternatively the connector 22 may be directly secured to rails 18. The drawer may be locked in the closed position by screws 43. A narrower drawer (Fig. 4, not shown) accommodates a plug-in circuit board. Wider drawers, for housing transformers, valves &c., have a base plate mounted between two horizontally displaced sets of guide rails, and are inserted between two pairs of opposed guide members. One or more support plates may be mounted on the tie rods between adjacent drawers, and the rack is preferably covered at top, bottom and rear. Circuit boards may replace some or all drawers. In a modification, a single fixed front panel is provided, the drawers and/or circuit boards being inserted from the rear. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,000,849.
