Abstract

1,214,388. Mounting electrical equipment. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP. 23 Oct., 1968 [26 Oct., 1967], No. 50371/68. Heading H1R. [Also in Division A4] An electrical equipment enclosure comprising two side walls and top and bottom parts is provided on the inside wall of each sidewall with uniformly distributed horizontal guiding grooves constituted by profiled bars which are welded to the side wall and into which sliding nuts are inserted and with the aid of which one or more mounting rails for supporting the equipment can be screwed in any arbitrary position. Identical metal side walls 4 of cabinet 1, Fig. 1, are each bent off at their longitudinal edges to form U-shaped portions 12, Fig. 2c, and both ends of each side wall are terminated by rails 14, 15 through which screws 6 pass to secure top and bottom portions 5 to the side walls 4. The portions 5, Fig. 3a and Figs. 3b, 3c (not shown), are each in the form of a trough having its edges bent off in a U-shaped manner 23 and into which are welded straps 24 provided with flaps 25 constituting a passage for screw 6. Flaps 25 are so dimensioned that when the enclosure is assembled they fit between the rails 14, 15. Equally distributed throughout the length of the sidewalls 4 are three members welded thereto provided with guiding grooves 17 into which sliding nuts are inserted and to which are clamped in any suitable position mounting rails 17 for sub-assembly groups 7 such as drawers. If heavy equipment is to be mounted in the cabinet 1 two mounting rails 19 are screwed to the side rails 4 and additional guide rails 21 are attached to rails 19 by screws 22. For mounting smaller units only one rail 19 is used mounted at the front or rear of the cabinet, Figs. 2b, 2a (not shown). The bottom portion 5 may be attached to the side walls 4 by hexagonal screws or if castors are used the screws are replaced by bolts. The portion 5 may be in the form of a frame, Figs. 4, 6 (not shown), in which case a cover plate is screwed to the straps 24 which cover plate may be U-shaped to enable a cable to be led into the cabinet. Several cabinets may be connected in a row Fig. 7 (not shown) in which case the partition walls 4 are of reduced depth to enable a direct horizontal wiring among the cabinets.
