Abstract

1,065,158. Rack-mounted electrical equipmerit. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Sept. 13, 1965 [Sept. 14, 1964], No. 37474/64. Heading H1R. In electrical apparatus, e.g. telephone exchange apparatus, of the kind in which component-bearing panels are slidably mounted on a shelf in a rack, such as is described and claimed in Specification 1,065,157, each panel comprises upper and lower channel section members 22, Fig. 6, secured between a front member 20, which carries a handle 26 and test sockets 24, and a rear member 21 which carries a printed wiring plug 27 between shrouds 29. Members 22 comprise inwardly directed flanges which overlie the channel portions, and are joined to front and rear members 20, 21 by means of tapped bars 39 and bolts 40. When printed circuit boards are to be mounted on a panel, an insulating insert (30, Fig. 7, not shown), e.g. of nylon, is slid into each channel member, each insert (30) comprising slots (32, 33) to enable the boards to be mounted in the plane of the panel or normal thereto, and an integral cable cleat (35). Other components are mounted on chassis which are attached to the channel members by means of lugs (37, Fig. 8, not shown) or brackets (38, Fig. 9, not shown).
