[Class 40 (iv)] In a bay comprising a vertical framework housing a number of apparatus panels 3 of the kind described in Specification 632,856, which may be withdrawn from the front of the bay, connection between the panels and the external wiring is effected by a connector or connectors 5 and 6 having two rows of sockets 26 which connect the terminal blades 24 at each end of the panel 3 to the terminal blades 24 on the frame, the said blades being adjacent and in the same plane when the panels 3 are secured in position. Soldering tags 25 are provided on the blocks 11 and 23, carrying the terminal blades 24 so that the panels 3 may be permanently wired ; the connectors 5 and 6 being hollowed at 27, to clear them. The vertical members 8 and 9 of the framework are of sheet metal bent to enclose a channel in which the cable form 12 to the panels may be run and carry on the inwardly facing surfaces, panel locators 10, the guides 14 and 15 of which locate runners 17 and 18 on the ends of the panels and also hold the terminal blocks 11. The panels are secured by screws 21 and 22, the heads of which are covered by extensions 28 and 29 on the connectors 5 and 6 to ensure that the panels are disconnected before removal. The connectors 5 and 6 both have sockets 30, 31 at the back which may be plugged into for testing and for taking level readings. The construction provides for two bays, back-to-back, but if a single bay is used it is desirable to close the back by a sheetmetal panel. A power panel such as 4 at the foot of each bay may be supplied from a busbar or pcwer cables running through all the Lays horizontally near the floor.
