Abstract

1,072,458. Railings; handrails. G. T. ERIKSSON. Aug. 13, 1964. No. 33117/64. Heading E1B. Preformed railing panels comprising vertical pales 7 interconnecting horizontal channels 5, 6 are mounted between posts 1 by slidable connections allowing horizontal expansion, and are covered by a continuous hand rail 15 having internal flanges 16 resting on the tops of the posts and on ribs 9 of the upper channel 6. Each tubular post 1 is mounted on a fixed peg 2 and has holes receiving a lower bar 3, Fig. 2, slidably engaging sockets 12 in the lower channel 5 and notches receiving an upper bar 4 slidably engaging the upper channel 6. A U-shaped member 17 (Fig. 5, not shown) has legs 18 which are rivetted within the post 1 to hold the fencing parts together while allowing relative horizontal movements between posts, panels and handrail. The bar 4 within two aligned channels 6 may be secured to one of them by rivets 14. As shown the pales 7 comprise rectangular tubes connected to the channels 5, 6 by expanded portions 7a, 7b and filling members 10, 11.
