Abstract
1,261,699. Staircase. A. ANDERNACH. 17 June, 1970 [18 June, 1969; 8 May, 1970], No. 29333/70. Heading E1B. The steps of a staircase are horizontally adjustable in step supports which are themselves slidably adjustable in slide rails set into the stringers. The slide rails extend parallel to the edges of the stringers (Fig. 1) or may be disposed vertically (Fig. 3). The step supports are in the form of channel sections 5 which engage, with their free arms, in slots in the steps, the connecting web of each section being slotted to allow horizontal displacement of the step. In an open staircase, the second stringer is replaced by a harp comprising C-section vertical posts (14, Fig. 10) to which connection is made in a similar manner. Alternatively the step support may take the form of a C-section 24, let into the step, the C-section being connected to a corresponding slide rail, set into the stringer, by a connecting screw 7. Again the second stringer may be replaced by a harp (Fig. 17).
