Abstract

1,071,675. Tubular heat exchangers. AMERICAN AIR FILTER CO. Inc. Nov. 21, 1963 [Nov. 21, 1962], No. 46107/63. Heading F4S. In a heat exchanger in which the two ends of each of a number of tube coils whose limbs 8 are arranged in an even number of rows, are connected into a header 2, all the rows except the first and last row are interconnected by one or more channel members 12 each spanning a pair of rows so that all the rows are connected in series (see also Fig. 13), baffles 14, 16 in opposite quadrants of the header overlying the channel member or members and, in cooperation with a transverse baffle 18, dividing the chamber in a plane parallel to the tube plate into fluid supply and return chambers communicating respectively with the first and last tube row of the series. Inlet and outlet connections (36, 38) to and from the header chambers are provided in a two-part cover member 32 (see also Figs. 9, 10), the two parts of the cover being joined to the baffle 18.
