Abstract

1,069,548. Electric air heaters. KLIKLOK CORPORATION. April 2, 1965 [Feb. 25, 1965], No. 13990/65. Heading H5H. In a compressed air heater comprising two concentric metal tubes 19, 20 and an axially located carbonaceous rod resistance heater 31, air is directed in series through the annular space 26 between the tubes and then through the inner tube by a flange 22, slots 28 in the inner tube and plates 29, 30. Air from a 4-stage turbine enters through an offset inlet 18 inducing a helical flow in the annular passage 26 and leaves through a passage 24 loading to a nozzle head in the form of a perforated aerofoil. The heater is pivoted and moved by a servomotor to apply the hot air for a fraction of a second on to paperboard covered with thermoplastic adhesive in a box making or closing process.
