1,068,968. Rotary-piston Internal combustion engines. USTAV PRO VYZKUM MOTOROVYCH VOZIDEL. Oct.9, 1964 [Oct. 17, 1963], No. 41311/64. Heading F1F. A rotary-piston I. C. engine, having a three or more sided piston planetarily rotatable within a trochoidal profiled casing, wherein each apex seal at a piston corner comprises U or T-shaped cross-sectional member rounded on its face slidingly engaging the casing with the ratio of the radius of curvature of the rounded face to the radius of the piston pitch circle being between 1:3 and 1:15. In Fig. 4, a U-shaped apex seal 1 is urged radially outwards by an undulating spring (not shown) into sliding engagement with the casing profile 3 and at its ends are slotted to permit the passage of lateral seals 8 and 9 with one seal 8 engaging the underside of the horizontal of the U and the other seal 9 abutting the seal 8. In another embodiment Fig. 7 (not shown) each apex seal is T-shaped.
