Abstract

1,078,705. Rotary-piston internal combustion engines. GOETZEWERKE FRIEDRICH GOETZE A.G. June 16, 1965 [June 26, 1964], No.25573/65. Heading F1F. To reduce the weight of a radical sealing strip located at a piston corner of a rotary-piston internal combustion of the type comprising a piston having n + 1 corners planetarily rotatable within a casing having an n-lobed epitrochordal inner profile, comprises a strip of non-metallic material engaging the inner profile which has metallic reinforement connected thereto by adhesive. In one embodiment, a non-metallic sealing strip is embedded in a metallic carrier of H cross-section with adhesive. The adhesive being forced through openings in the horizontal limb of the carrier into a space on the other side thereof. In another embodiment, the non- metallic strip is flanked on its two sides by metallic plates having dove-tailed shaped openings through which the adhesive between the strip and the plates is forced to effect an anchorage. In a further embodiment, the non-metallic strip is seated in a metallic L-shaped carrier having dove-tailed shaped openings on its vertical limb through which the adhesive is forced.
