Abstract

1,067,845. Lighting systems for road vehicles. J. CRAIGIE. Oct. 12, 1964 [July 10, 1963], No. 27256/63. Heading F4R. A road vehicle has at least one forward facing lamp for illuminating the road in front of the vehicle and at least one sideways facing lamp for illuminating the road at the offside of the vehicle, each lamp having an elongated substantially rectangular aperture with its major axis horizontal. Each forward facing lamp has a low-powered filament to act as a parking light and a higher-powered filament which is controlled, together with the offside facing lamps, by the vehicle dip-switch. Lamps facing the nearside of the vehicle are also provided, and switches enable the driver to control the nearside lamps and to select which sideways facing lamps are to be connected to the dipswitch. The lamp reflectors are of part cylindrical configuration and are semi-circular or parabolic in cross-section.
