A corneal contact lens comprises an optic section 2 for correcting vision and a peripheral band 3, the inner surface of which forms a frustum of a cone having its apex on the axis of the optic section, said frustum being tangential to the inner surface of the optic section at the line of intersection therewith. The peripheral edge of the lens is rounded so that it clears the surface of the eye when the lens is placed on the cornea.
