Abstract

A covering material for a wall or other architectural surface bears on one surface a decorative finish and on the other surface a pressure sensitive cohesive coating adapted to form a bond with another like coating. The cohesive coating may be based on rubber latex or synthetic co-or multi-polymers. A lining paper has on one surface a pressure-sensitive cohesive coating adapted to form a bond, preferably a peelable bond, with another like coating, the other surface being plain paper, or has a permanent tack adhesive coating or a permanent non-tacky adhesive e.g. a cellulosic based adhesive, which may be activated by moisture or a solvent. The cohesive coating may be non-continuous e.g. in the form of stripes, bands, diamond shaped latices, or dots which may be regularly or irregularly spaced.
