Abstract

1,063,026. Holding tools. CANNON ELECTRIC (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd. April 30, 1965 [May 6, 1964], No. 18811/64. Heading B4W. A tool for inserting a conductor 5 with plug ended termination 7 from a connector having a retention clip 14, comprises a hollow tubular body longitudinally split and having at the insertion end a thin-walled nose portion which fits snugly over the insulation of the conductor and against the rear face of the shoulder 1 of the plug, an intermediate portion 19 of greater thickness and outside diameter than the portion 17, 18 and an outer portion 20 which serves as a handle. The outside diameter of the portion 17, 18 is such that when fully inserted, it does not obstruct the outward springing movement of the tines of the clip 14 which hold the shoulder 1 against the shoulder 13 at the mouth of the cavity. The extraction tool comprises longitudinally split tubular portions 21, 23, the portion 21 being thin-walled and having an internal diameter which fits over the conductor but is slightly less than the diameter of the shoulder 1 of the plug so that when pushed against the said shoulder the tines of the clip are pushed outwards so that they are clear of the shoulder and the plug ended conductor can be pulled out.
