Abstract
1,062,892. Fault testing. A. REYROLLE & CO. Ltd. Oct. 3, 1963 [July 4, 1962], No. 25694/62. Heading G1U. In a circuit breaker testing apparatus of the Weil type as described in Specification 662, 549 a test circuit breaker T (Fig. 3) is connected to a low voltage generator S of source reactance nL through auxiliary breaker A for interruption, and the test breaker is shunted by restrike capacitor Cr and by inductance L and source capacitor C s , charged to peak recovery voltage and discharged into the test breaker just prior to current zero at interruption to develop a restrike transient voltage at the contacts Fig. 4 (not shown); and the circuit is modified to simulate more closely the conditions of fault in a distributed line at a point close to the breaker Figs. 1 and 2a to 2d(not shown) by interconnecting the test breaker T and restrike capacitor Cr directly by an open circuited distributed line N 1 (Fig. 5a). The test breaker and capacitor may be interchanged Fig. 5b (not shown). Alternatively the test breaker may be interconnected with the C s GL loop and shunted by restrike capacitor Cr over open circuited distributed line N 1 (Fig. 5c) and the test breaker and capacitor may be interchanged Fig. 5d (not shown).
