Abstract

1,062,095. Pneumatic actuation of switches. FABRIEK VAN ELECTRISCHE APPARATEN VOORHEEN F. HAZEMEIJER & CO. N.V. March 3, 1964 [March 4, 1963], No. 8899/64. Heading H2B. A three-phase on-load isolator comprising three switch units 13, 14, 15 of the type described in Specification 325,401, linked by a bar 16, is actuated by a pneumatic piston 20 and cylinder 19 arrangement including a magnet system 22, 23, 24, 26, 28 imparting quick-action to the piston. To close the switches 13, 14, 15 air pressure is increased above the piston 20 until it is sufficient to free a soft magnetic plate 28 from the annular polepieces 22, 23 of the permanent magnet 24 when the piston moves rapidly downwards, actuating the switches, and bringing a second plate 26 into contact with the other end of the polepieces 22, 23. Similarly to open the switches pressure is increased below the piston until plate 26 is separated from the magnet. Spring discs 27, 29 prevent damage to the plates 26, 28 when they strike the polepieces.
