Joints with yielding inner sleeve expanded.-A coupling for connecting tubes and the like comprises an inner and an outer sleeve d, a which receive the tube ends b, c between them, the inner sleeve d being made expansible by slits e. The outer sleeve a is originally of an external diameter equal to the external diameter of the sleeve d, and is bored to a larger internal diameter, leaving an annular ring near the middle against which the tube ends b, c abut and through which a screw g may pass to secure the sleeves together. The inner sleeve d is expanded to grip the tube ends by screws i passing through perforations in the outer sleeve a and tube ends b, c and engaging screw-threaded bosses f on the inner sleeve d. The coupling may be used to connect a tube end to an eye &c.
