Abstract
<PICT:1061208/C4-C5/1> A plurality of different petroleum crudes are concurrently distilled by separately heating and flashing to recover separate residues and combining and fractionating the flashed vapours. A feed in line 11 is heated in heating coils 13, 14 and 15 in furnace 16 and flashed in zone A having liquid-vapour contacting means 23 above the flash section and a steam stripping section below. A smaller feed in line 30 is similarly heated and flashed in a similar zone B. The residues in lines 28 and 42 are stored and can be blended to give fuel oil of desired sulphur content. Vapours from zone B pass to fractionating section 22 where they are fractionated with vapours from zone A to obtain gaseous and liquid overheads and sidestreams which are steam stripped. A reflux to zone B may be obtained from line 46.
