A gasoline of high antiknock value is obtained from gasolines the Highest-Useful-Compression-volatility curve of which shows a break, by fractionating the gasoline sharply at the temperature corresponding to the break so that the boiling range of the distillate thus obtained, determined according to the A.S.T.M. method, does not overlap the next higher boiling fraction.
