Abstract
<PICT:0366006/III/1> <PICT:0366006/III/2> <PICT:0366006/III/3> In the distillation of oils by injecting them into baths A, A<1> of molten metal through jacketed insulated pipes L, L<1> so that the oil remains unvaporized until it comes into contact with the molten metal, the pipes L project only a short distance below the surface of the metal, so that the oils are in contact with the metal for a very short time, cracking being thus avoided. The injection pipes L, Fig. 2, are provided with a valve M on a rod l operated by a handle K. The stills A, A<1> are heated by burners C fed with producer gas, mazout or residual asphalt, and the waste gases pass through flues H to an outlet B and may be used for preheating the oil, or for steam raising. Residual asphalt is continually removed through pipes F, F<1> to reservoirs D, D<1>. The vapours produced are led off through a tube P and fractionated in air-cooled condensers. The stills may comprise several pots b, Fig. 3, and are supported on reinforced side belts g and reinforced by cross ribs t. Specification 230,339, [Class 32, Distilling &c.], is referred to.
