Abstract

1,058,380. Control of A.C. motors. SIEMENSSCHUCKERTWERKE A.G. Dec. 22, 1965 [Dec. 23, 1964], No. 54469/65. Heading H2J. [Also in Division G3] A.C. motors 1-4 are operated as D.C. generators for braking, armature resistors 5-8 being provided for this purpose. Field windings 9-12 are supplied from rectifier 13, the width of output pulses from which depends upon a control signal from pre-amplifier 14, and their magnitude upon a voltage derived from braking resistor 5. The pre-amplifier is controlled in accordance with the difference between a reference voltage from potentiometer 17 and the voltage of a Hall converter 16, the Hall voltage being proportional to the product of the field and armature currents of the motor 4. The field current is detected by coil 15, and the armature current signal is taken from braking resistor 8. The motor torque is related to the Hall voltage and is maintained at a constant value set by the potentiometer 17. In another arrangement, the unit 13 is replaced by an inverter connected to resistor 5 and supplying the field windings through a transformer and diode.
