Abstract
1,056,273. Laminates. CHLORIDE BATTERIES Ltd. Oct. 8, 1963 [July 9, 1962], No.26188/62. Heading B5N. A separator for the plates of electric storage batteries comprises a layer of diatomaceous earth sandwiched between and bonded to two layers of a non-woven felt-like fabric made from fibres of an acid-resisting thermoplastic resin. Bonding agents, e.g. polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride or butadiene-styrene copolymer latexes may be incorporated in the diatomaceous earth. Specified fabrics are polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyacrylates or polyesters, e.g. polyethylene terephthalate.
