An accumulator grid 1 pasted with lead oxides is provided with a mesh or net 6 which is pressed or rolled into the surface of the paste. The net is made of polyvinyl chloride or its copolymers, polyethylene, or polyesters, for example polyethylene terephthalate, and may be in the form of fine cloth or open non-woven fabric, the fibres of which are bonded together by fusion or cement.
