Abstract
749,778. Batteries. CHLORIDE ELECTRICAL STORAGE CO., Ltd. July 15, 1954 [July 30, 1953], No. 21138/53. Class 53. A separator consists of a sheet a of felted wood fibres to which ribs b of sintered thermoplastic resin powder are bonded. The ribs are made by passing the sheet on which is a layer of resin powder under a shaped roller or a serrated knife and then passing the sheet through an oven to sinter the resin. The sheet a may include glass, resin or other fibres and the resin forming the ribs may contain kieselguhr or other siliceous fillers. The sheet is made by a papermaking process and may be impregnated with thermosetting resins, rubber or other binders, and the finished ribbed sheets may be treated with a wetting agent.
