Abstract

1,055,907. Clamping overhead conductors. TAYLOR, TUNNICLIFF & CO. Ltd. June 22, 1965 [July 3. 1964], No. 27465/64. Heading H2C. A trunnion-mounted clamp for attaching an overhead electrical conductor to an insulator support, rests in a yoke 2, 3 on a cap 1 on the insulator body. When the clamping pressure is released the U-bolt 7 which joins the cradle body 5 and movable plate 6 drops into a locating slot 17 on the cap, preventing movement of the clamp on its trunnions during assembly. Use of an unsymmetrical clamping plate slotted at one end may permit introduction of the conductor without dismantling and, by allowing alternative concave gripping surfaces to be applied when it is fitted in alternative positions, . increase the range of diameter of conductors which can be accommodated.
