Abstract

Liquid fuels are treated by causing the liquid to flow through an electrostatic field, along a path extending between a plurality of pairs of unlike magnetic poles provided by permanent magnets arranged to concentrate the magnetic fields of said poles in said path, and, after flowing through said path the liquid is caused to flow through a gap between two confronting opposite pole faces in the interior of a magnet structure, which produce a field in the gap transverse to the flow direction, whereafter the fuel is passed to a storage container. Suitable apparatus includes either a stack of disc magnets spaced apart by disc polepieces or ball magnets separated by spacing members.
