Abstract

1,147,955. Purification of oils. S. MIYATA. 19 Dec., 1966, No. 56616/66. Heading C5E. [Also in Division B2] A plurality of magnetizable bodies are encircled by a coil of non-magnetic material, e.g. copper, brass, glass, plastics. In one embodiment, permanent magnets 20 are each so encircled, as at 21, Fig. 1, and in another the magnets are encircled by a common coil, which may be further coiled on itself, Fig. 3. Alternatively mild steel bodies may be magnetized by a separate permanent magnet, e.g. grids 61, 62, Fig. 7, or an electromagnet as 55, Fig. 6, having polepieces 53, 54. The bodies may be balls, ball ended rods, cubes, various shapes being alternated. The coils space some of the bodies apart. A liquid/gas treatment chamber 50, Fig. 6, having gauze sheets 44, 45 at inlet 51 and outlet 52 is filled with bodies, and is used for separation of ferromagnetic contaminants, or treatment of liquid fuels.
