Abstract

1,055,129. Mooring loading pontoons. W. TRENGOVE, and G. PETRIE. Feb. 25, 1965 [March 2, 1964], No. 8747/64. Headings B7A and B7S. [Also in Division E1] A loading pontoon comprises a hollow buoyant pontoon body arranged to accommodate a vessel moored along each side thereof, and having at one end means to moor the pontoon body to a fixed point on the sea-bed, said means being arranged to permit rotation of the pontoon body about said fixed point. The means to moor the pontoon body comprises a buoy in the form of a vertical cylinder 12, Fig. 3 (not shown), on which is mounted a turntable 17 rotatable in a horizontal plane and to which one end of the pontoon is attached. Cage 24 supporting conical rollers 20 and extending downwards to support coaxial pairs of cylindrical rollers 25, provides smooth rotation of the turntable round the buoy on race tracks 22, 23 and race tracks 26, 27 situated on the top and outer surface of the buoy and on the underside and inside wall of the turntable and skirt.
