Abstract

1, 052,250. Measuring moisture content. H. MAHLO. Dec. 31, 1964 [Jan. 8, 1964] No.52989/64. Heading G1N. The moisture content of a moving web 8 is determined by projecting microwaves at the web from an emitter 7 and measuring the reflected energy with a receiver 10 disposed at the same angle to the web. The oscillator is a reflex Klystron having a free space wavelength of 3À2 cm, and the apparatus may comprise a magic T. Absorber material 9 is placed behind the web and round the transmitter and receiver openings. The measuring signal may be used to control the pressure of rollers in a squeezing machine.
