934,328. Testing strength of webs. BILLINGSFORS-LANGED A.B. April 26, 1962 [May 3, 1961], No. 16012/62. Class 106 (2). A moving web is tested for a desired minimum strength by pivotable feeler elements 14 extending across the width of the web and pressed via a piston 18 and diaphragm 20 (Fig. 3), by preadjusted fluid pressure in chamber 17. Weak regions of the web will be pierced, movement of a feeler providing a signal which may be used for stopping the feeding of the web.
