[Also in Divisions G1 and G4] In an arrangement for controlling the output voltage of a high gain amplifier 10 so as to vary the ratio of the output to input voltage inversely with the setting of a linear potential divider 12, the amplifier output is applied to the potential divider and a feedback impedance 14 is connected between a tap on the divider and the input of the amplifier. The potential divider has an impedance which is small compared with the feedback impedance. It is shown in the Specification that the output voltage E 2 will be given by where E 1 is the input voltage, Z 1 and Z 2 are the input and feedback impedances respectively and K is the proportion of the voltage tapped off the potential divider. The arrangement is used in bridge networks for measuring complex impedance (see Division G1).
